“ I'm a huge fan of egg tarts and this spot happened to be nearby where I was. I got 2 regular egg tarts. The puff pastry shell was crispy and had many layers, which I really liked. Biting it with the egg custard center was satisfying. The one thing I didn't really like was that the center was a bit too sweet for my tastes. Taste wise, the egg tart was rich in flavor. Overall, they were good egg tarts for a reasonable price. I just took off a star for my preference of less sweet egg centers for my egg tarts. ”

“ It really is all about the egg tarts here. Went with the HK and Portuguese and both had nice crunchy, flaky crust with a soft custard interior. Filling had a great egg custard flavor, not too sweet. Price here is on the higher end. I tried the pineapple bbq pork bun and was a bit disappointed. The pineapple bun itself was fine but the filling was more of a soy flavor, not any charsiu flavor to it. It also was not the chopped bbq and was shredded, which is fine but there was no bbq flavor. Definitely go here for the egg tarts. ”

“ After eating a bowl of Tsujita LA's ramen and three scoops of Wanderlust Creamery's Asian Fusion ice cream in the Little Osaka neighborhood, I told my dining mates that my appetite was content. Still, my sweet tooth was not completely satisfied. I had a nagging feeling that there was another bookmarked business on my list nearby, so I checked my handy Yelp App and found Supita Tart Specialists. Luckily, this modern Cantonese-style bakery was located less than a block away from the Sawtelle Centre, and I convinced my dining mates to take the stroll down the street with me. I found the bakery easily and walked in to find display shelves of freshly baked bread and individually wrapped pastries, notably one of my favorite Chinese pastries, sashimi. On the other side, there were open trays (behind glass barriers) of various egg tarts (Portugese or pastel de nata, tropical flavored cheesecake tarts, and pastry-wrapped hotdogs) and a countertop display of other Cantonese pastries such as winter melon rice cakes, some other rice cakes, dried mango slices and more. I noticed they didn't have any Cantonese egg tarts (daan tat) on display and asked the counter help about their availability because that's what I came in for. Unfortunately, she said a batch of egg tarts was still baking and would be available within 30 minutes, which I wasn't willing to wait for. However, the Hong Kong-style coconut tarts 港式椰撻 made with desiccated coconut, not shredded or flake coconut, which I haven't found at dim sum houses in years, caught my eye. The display was emptied, so it appeared that the coconut tarts were a popular item since there were only two left on the sheet pan display. Since we weren't willing to wait 30 minutes for the fresh batch of Cantonese egg tarts to come out from the oven, I opted for an HK coconut tart (港式椰撻), and my dining mates got the Portuguese pastéis de nata. We brought them home to eat since our family has a "no eating or drinking in the car" rule, and we enjoyed the flaky tart crusts with their not-overly-sweet fillings. I want to return for the Cantonese egg tarts because my taste buds were encouraged by the flavors and textures of the coconut tart and Portuguese egg tart. ”

“ New spot in Sawtelle selling egg tarts and other HK pastries and classic drinks here like Ovaltine (ahh childhood)! I got the classic HK egg tart and the crust was buttery and flakey. The egg tart custard was silky and creamy with a lot of eggy goodness flavor! I do wish the price for their egg tarts and pastries were a bit cheaper. However, I get that they're a business in West LA and not in 626/SGV area (where egg tarts are good and cheap) so it's all for a good cause to support Asian businesses on the west side! Come here if you want good HK desserts and don't want to trek far out. ”

“ My sister and I stopped by here while we were waiting for our table at a restaurant down the street. We were fully expecting this to be an overpriced bakery, however we were surprised! This place is amazing! We preferred the regular egg tart over the po tat, but the po tat was still tasty. The bolo bao was amazing and had no hard bits of meat. The girl working was also SO nice. We also stopped by at around 7PM, and they were still pulling items fresh from the oven, so that's a plus! We'll be back to try their milk tea! Ordered: - egg tart (bright yellow one) - po tat - bolo cha siu bao ”

“ Quick Review: Service was nice and friendly. They chatted about some yelp question that popped up when I checked in. Food is good, I tried their egg tarts and shredded pork bun. Moist and delicious. The ambiance is split between a small bakery and a cafe, so quite cozy. Their HK tea didn't win any marks though. Not my sort of taste. ”

“ Solid 5 stars for their Portuguese egg tart and 4.5 for egg tart. The Portuguese egg tart crust is light and flaky and the egg custard is soft and not too sweet. So good. The egg tart was pretty good too. Crust and egg a little firmer. Both excellent, just preference to how you like your egg tarts. Came to the store around 9:50pm and glad they still had some. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. ”
